FC Samoa has (as part of its mission) to expose serious scholar-athletes to the highest levels of d1 soccer in the State. It is the only proven road to College-prep. The Nor Cal Premier league provides a one-game a week vehicle(we double up games for travel economy)for long-term soccer development. Teams who win Bronze or Silver (as we did) are moved up to the next level. Life in the fast lane refers to the fact that at Gold level EVERY athlete is selected on speed, most clubs have 2 or 3 teams at each age level (fighting for their spots)and that the coaching is very focused, driven, and professional.
As of Oct 10th, FC Samoa u-14 had survived a mini-injury crisis, and regrouped magnificently with 3 wins in their last 5 games. the 2 losses were 0-1 and 1-2, in the TIGHTEST of games against opponents (Santa Rosa United Fury and SCA- S) of very high quality. The wins against Napa Arsenal (after losing 1-0 earlier in the month to them) and SCA-N were very satisfying, well earned at 3-0 and 4-2 respectively, and demonstrate the one thing we all look for - documentable IMPROVEMENT over time.
In this same period, our wonderful back up goalie Alexis Regan has recorded 2 shutouts (remember this is Gold level Bay Area we are talking about!) and improved dramatically with every game.. This from a player who has not played a competitive game in two years, and is more often found playing golf than soccer! The entire Club is in her debt."
Footnote: while on "injured reserve" one of our players has improved her juggling record no less than 6 times. It is (now) over 172. And this girl is a Goalkeeper (!!)...Maddie has inspired everyone else to go back and pick up their juggling again. It is this "home study" mentality that is a clue to the type of soccer-serious player who should sign up for our upcoming 12-week WINTER SKILLS ACADEMY (begins week of DEC 5th)
