FC Samoa Summer Soccer Programs

FAQs and Program Descriptions.

Kinder Soccer: Tues/Thurs 5pm-6pm. Starts July 20th 5pm-6pm. Samoa Field
Aimed specifically at 5 year olds (and their parent coaches) who are entering their first year of soccer. Program includes age-appropriate soccer lead-up games (Simon Says/Red Light Green light/Sharks and Minnows etc) delivered in a way that fosters some learning of soccer fundamentals (parts of shoe as tools for ball control, taking a throw-in, responding to referee, attacking the goal etc). Parent education will include some basics of child development as they apply to early participation in team sports, and Positive Coaching practice. Each one-hour session will culminate in a series of 3 v3 scrimmages (small-sided soccer as strongly recommended by US Soccer).
Clinic is directed by (FC Samoa Director of Soccer) Nick Parker, and the Coaches are drawn from the famous “Big Sister” pool of local d1 and College players specifically trained in working with very young soccer players.

Pee Wee (Under 8) Soccer Clinic. Tues-Thurs Starts July 20th   Samoa Field Aimed at boys and girls on their second or third year of soccer. Individual exercises in agility, locomotion skills, balance-proprioception and injury prevention are incorporated into a modern, dynamic (and fun) warm up. Players will then be taught baseline” mastery of the ball” exercises (dribbling/turns/shooting) and presented with small-game situations in which to incorporate these touch-techniques. All sessions will culminate in 3 v3 and 4 v4 scrimmage games that include teachable moments in restarts (throw-ins, goal kicks etc) and sportsmanship as well as Parent education in age-appropriate practices and expectations.

TEAM TRAINING: by appointment: your team, your location, your agenda. FC Samoa offers a wide range of technical-tactical- conditioning assistance, aimed at d3, d1 and high School Programs. FC Samoa can assign separate instructors in specific areas (Pre-Conditioning- S and C, ACL and injury prevention for players, goalkeeping, functional-positional training etc). We strive also to involve Coaches in the education process, with the ultimate goal of improving instruction where it counts 9on the practice field) for every player here on the North Coast. A week long team clinic can be done for (approx) $100 a player, and we pride ourselves that this compares very favourably indeed with similar programs out of the area- both in quality and value for money.

FAQs: terminology and seasonal program changes (etc)

ACADEMY: an ongoing class offered once a week for (just) individual skill development and conditioning basics. (no team tactics). Academy is a seasonal program offered by age/day at 4pm in Samoa. Base Academy membership is just $30 a month (after paying the $30 insurance/registration fee- good for a year). Next Academy cycle will begin at “Back to School” time TBD (Tues-Thurs afternoons)

MEMBER: a club member of FC Samoa in good standing pays $30 a month (Academy fee)(or $50 when on a travel team)(team training fee).

TEAM TRAINING: offered (either)as part of an FC Samoa team (or) as guest instructors hired to improve your d3/d1/HS team and/or educate your coaching staff.

GOALKEEPER SCHOOL: offered (seasonally) one day per week and (other times) by appointment (by age of player). Typically a one-on-one lesson or (up to) a group of 3 students. Academy membership (seasonally) includes one gk lesson per week.

KINDER: 5 year old soccer players entering their FIRST year of Fall soccer.

PEE WEE: age 6 and 7…entering year 2 or 3 of soccer.

D3 (this term will soon become “Copper” or “Bronze”. A local all-star or travel team
D1 (soon to become (Premier) Gold –Silver and (Bronze): an elite all-county travel team.

TERMINOLGY: the terms “Bronze-silver-Gold’ have become confusing….and do not carry well across State lines (Silver n CA is not the same as Silver in Oregon). However, there is an attempt to standardize the terms used. For this reason the phrases “d3’ and “d1” will soon be rendered obsolete.

D4= rec level soccer
D3= local all-star level: Copper or Bronze
D1= All County Travel Team. Silver or Gold (with some high Bronze) College-Prep Programs
Premier/ODP: Premier teams will compete (eg) at regionals, and many Premier players will go on to play 4-year Colleges and/or enter the pro pyramid.
